If there’s one series that rules the roost in terms of console first person shooters, it’s Call of Duty. Chief among its selling points is a compelling online multiplayer mode, and the latest edition - World at War - is no different.

Now Activision has released a free companion app - called Call of Duty: World at War Companion - for all those who are inclined towards filling their friends with digital lead. With it you can track your stats and those of your friends, as well as making a direct comparison for bragging rights. You can also view leader boards and keep up to date with the latest Call of Duty news.

The app works with both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions (it essentially runs off the existing World at WarHQ website), so if you’re a WaW player and you own an iPhone, it’s pretty much a must have.
