Nintendo has never promoted the Wii on the power of its hardware, and it's never attempted to camouflage the fact that it's the least technically capable of the three living room consoles.

but after complaints from some players that the Wii version of The Secret of Monkey Island suffers from occasional frame rate issues, one of the programmers from Telltale Games took to the forums to discuss the problem.

"Frame rate issues will probably get sorted out eventually, but keep in mind that the Wii is just not a powerful console. An iPhone is much more powerful than a Wii, even," he says.

Naturally these comments have stirred up quite a bit of controversy, though he stood by the statement in later posts, saying that both the Wii and DS are 'extremely underpowered'.

Whether the benchmark performance figures of the iPhone and Wii would prove him to be correct, we really couldn't say, though the recently released iPhone version of Monkey Island doesn't seem to be suffering from any frame rate issues.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
