Play.com offering sim free, unlocked iPhone

It might not be cheap, but it’s very useable

The pay as you go iPhone appeared toward the back end of last year, though it was still locked to the O2 network and ran up around £350 for the handset - quite a pretty penny, though not a patch on the one being offered by Play.com.

The online retailer now has listings for unlocked, sim free iPhones, with the 8GB model weighing in at a wallet-rending £549.99. Presumably the extra cost is due to the fact that you can use this 3G handset on any network, and using your current sim card - something only jailbroken iPhones have previously enjoyed.

There’s also a listing for the 16GB model, which lands at £599.99 - not a bad price for the additional 8GB of memory, though still quite hefty overall.

O2 also recently announced it’s giving the 8GB models away for free, if this is all a little too rich for your blood, though you do need a 24 month contract to go with it.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
