Nickelodeon going iPhone crazy

SpongeBob and Dora coming soon, but only in the US?

US iPhoners have already seen SpongeBob SquarePants shoot to App Store fame when his SpongeBob SquarePants Ticker app found its way into the top 10, though we’ve yet to get any undersea action over here.

Perhaps the square one’s iPhone antics will soon spread to other regions, since Nickelodeon is apparently having a big push on Apple’s platform with seven new applications being announced.

SpongeBob stars in three of them, of which SponeBob SquarePants Atlantic Treasures was released today (again, in the US), while SpongeBob's Wacky Walk will follow in April.

But it’s SpongeBob SquarePants Diner Dash that’s really grabbed our attention, and as it’s being made in collaboration with PlayFirst we can reasonably assuming this is going to be a branded, cartoonised version of the excellent Diner Dash franchise.

Later in the year we can also expect Dora The Explorer’s iPhone debut in a literacy and maths game aimed at younger players, while iCarly, Sara's Super Spa (based on the Shockwave web game) and an adaptation of Daily Jigsaws To-Go are also on the cards.

Quite why Nickelodeon’s ignoring the rest of the iPhone’s territories is anyone’s guess, but we’d definitely be keen to see SpongeBob sing, dancing and carrying on for our iPhone entertainment.

Oi! Nick! Sort it!

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
