iPhone 2.2.1 firmware update now available

But there’s no immediate rush to upgrade

iPhone 2.2.1 firmware update now available

Apple has just released the latest iPhone (not iPod touch, mind you) firmware update, which doesn't deliver those vital features we’re all waiting for - mainly copy and paste, but a nice landscape orientation on the email client would be appreciated too.

Anyway, this is more of a general stability package by all accounts (which we knew already) - particularly in the Safari browser. It also fixes a specific problem with email images not displaying properly in camera roll, or something.

Actually, that’s another update we’d like to see in the email program. The iPhone automatically downloads images in emails, which as we all know, is a device used by spammers to check that an email account is active.

Outlook and other email software block pictures until you decide it’s a friendly email, and the iPhone ought to do likewise.

Well, until 2.2.1.2.1 (or it might be 2.3 next, if rumours are to be believed), there’s probably no point upgrading if you’re jailbroken - everyone else might as well if they’ve got a spare five minutes. Remember to backup first!

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
