Best App Ever Awards reveal best iPhone games
|

Website 148Apps has announced the winners of its inaugural Best App Ever Awards, which garland the best iPhone applications and games.

More than 98,000 votes were cast in the week nominations were open, and the results have just been announced. Happily, there's not just one games category - there are loads.

"The goal of the awards was to help publicize some applications that people may never have seen," says 148Apps founder Jeff Scott. The full list of winners in the gaming categories is as follows:

  • Most Innovative Game: Touchgrind by Illusion Labs (pictured)
  • Best Original Game: Fieldrunners by Subatomic Studios
  • Best Game Port: SimCity by Electronic Arts
  • Best Casual Game: Labyrinth by Codify
  • Best Long-Play Game: Fieldrunners by Subatomic Studios
  • Best Free or Ad Supported Game: Chess With Friends by Newtoy
  • Best 99 Cent Game: Moto Chaser by Freeverse
  • Best Game Graphics: Rolando by ngmoco
  • Best Game Controls: Rolando by ngmoco
  • Best Arcade Game: Air Hockey by Acceleroto
  • Best Puzzle Game: Enigmo by Pangea Software
  • Best Traditional Game: Texas Hold'em by Apple
  • Best Racing Game: Cro-Mag Rally by Pangea Software
  • Best Kids Game: JellyCar by Walaber
  • Best Strategy Game: Fieldrunners by Subatomic Studios
  • Best Word Game: Chicktionary by Blockdot

Congratulations to all the winners! Given our ineptitude at JellyCar, we're sceptical about just how many children have mastered it, though...
