Promo apps available for US iPhone users

App Store now accepts redemption codes

This isn't particularly a story for the gamer on the street (not directly, at least, but it should prove useful ultimately), but for developers and the games media who've struggled with coverage of new apps due to the difficulty of providing promotional copies for review. It seems Apple's been listening to its developers and the US App Store now allows app creators to offer 50 promotional codes for redemption directly through the iPhone's distribution network.

Review code, as it's known, is the primary method by which game developers get their products into the media, and this new system will be a huge boost to the accessibility of that established protocol.

The promo option is also being implemented for existing apps, with the 50 code limit being reset with each new update. Hopefully this'll spread through the worldwide App Stores before long, and will further boost the iPhone's popularity among the game playing press.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
