8MP iPhone camera shot ignites latest iPhone 5 rumour
The real deal?
Could the humble photo of a sushi dish below hold the secrets of the iPhone 5? There's some compelling evidence to suggest that it might, spotted by pocketnow.com.
The photo's Exif data says that it was taken with an iPhone 4, at Apple's HQ in Cupertino, California.
Fine.
Except that the uncropped image clocks in at a grand resolution of 3264x244 - far above the spec of the iPhone 4's 2592x1936 5MP snapper. That figure is also curiously close to the 8MP mark often rumoured to be the resolution of Apple's next-generation camera.
Upon further reflectionOn the other hand, Exif data can be easily faked, so there's no guarantee that it was taken anywhere near Apple's HQ, or even by any phone at all.
A shred of supporting evidence for the iPhone 5 theory has appeared on This is my next, where a reader has managed to digitally reshape the reflection in the dish, and the result is moderately interesting.
It's still too distorted to make out much, but you can clearly see a person taking a photograph, using something roughly the size of an iPhone.
Also, sushi is exactly the sort of thing they'd eat at Infinite Loop.
