Has Apple lost the iPhone 5 in a bar?
|

Website CNET is reporting that an Apple employee - in a spectacular case of history repeating itself - has lost the next iPhone in a bar.

The prototype phone is said to have been lost in July before popping up on Craigslist and selling for the princely sum of $200.

According to the website's source, the phone was tracked by Apple to a two-floor home in San Francisco's Bernal Heights area, where the police - along with Apple investigators - later visited.

The homeowner denied all knowledge of the phone and the police failed to find a device upon searching the premises, the source said.

Maybe, maybe not

Both Apple and Craigslist have declined to comment on the situation, and a spokesman for the San Francisco Police Department has stated that, "the company did not file a police report based on the loss at the bar."

Furthermore, in an interview with CNET, the bar's owner claims neither Apple nor the police have ever contacted him about the device.

He does, however, remember a man calling multiple times about a lost phone about a month ago.
