Rumour: iPhone 5 will have aluminum back, improved antenna

Now that those pesky iPad 2 rumours have been well and truly put to rest (what with the device being offically unveiled and all) now is about the right time for the next phase of the yearly Apple media circus to begin moving into top gear.

Right on cue, Mac Rumors (fittingly) is reporting that the iPhone 5’s back will now return to the old-style aluminium, favoured by the original iPhone, as opposed to the breakable (but prettier) glass exterior found on the iPhone 4.

The redesign is expected to also extend to the antenna, which has apparently been adjusted to take into account the ‘grip of death’ that was all the rage when the iPhone 4 launched last year.

Both of these rumours originated on the Japanese business website Makotakara.
