UPDATE: The results are in. See below for details.

Yesterday, Apple released a minor iOS update that was designed to fix any iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch battery issues. Unfortunately, it looks like the Cupertino company hasn't been able to service all of problems.

We asked on both Facebook and Twitter for feedback on iOS 5.0.1 and received a mixed bag of responses.

For example, one PG reader said his battery has "improved considerably", and noted "Took it off charge at 11 last night. Two and a half hours usage plus the stand by, 63% remaining. Would have had it on charge by now before the update."

Other respondents commented that the battery "lasts so much longer now!" and that it's "a much better battery for me" since the update.

The other side of the coin

On the other hand, however, it appears the update has caused even more issues for a number of our readers.

Some have commented that the battery - since the update - "seems to be worse", with another stating that "5.0.1 seems to make things worse for people".

Some of Gizmodo's readers aren't faring any better, with one complaining that his 4S's battery is "draining 1% every 3-4 mins under light use".

Rather less excitingly, some of our readers reported that there's been no change whatsoever.

The results are in, and it's relatively good news for Apple. Readers reporting diminished battery life (19.6 per cent) were narrowly in the minority behind readers reporting improvements (22.3 per cent). Readers reporting no discernible change were by far in the majority (58.1 per cent).

If you don't like dealing with numbers, check out this lovely big pie.
