Apple's iPhone 4S hits 1 million pre-orders in first 24 hours, 66 per cent more than iPhone 4
One million apples a day keeps the doctor away
There might have been moans, groans, and complaints after Apple unveiled its iPhone 4S last Tuesday, but the - evidently - long-awaited device has still managed to amass an impressive one million pre-orders in its first 24 hours.
To put that into perspective, the iPhone 4 - which sported a brand new design and a big leap over its predecessor - managed a mere 600,000 in comparison.
"We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S. The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do." said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide product marketing.
In case you've been living under a rock, the iPhone 4S boasts a dual-core A5 processor, a new and improved 8MP camera, 1080p video recording, and an impressive personal assistant who calls herself Siri. It will also come pre-loaded with iOS 5.
The iPhone 4S goes on sale in the UK this Friday the 14th, at 8AM GMT. It will be available in both black and white, and in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions. These will set you back £499, £599, and £699 respectively.
