Steve Jobs: ‘Stay Tuned’ on iPhone 4 reception issue. Software fix incoming
|

One of the most distressing things to come from the iPhone 4 launch was the worrying series of videos where users could get their iPhone 4 to drop signal bars and lose wi-fi speed just by holding it in a specific way.

CEO Steve Jobs wrote back to customers saying that the reception issues were inevitable with handheld mobile devices, and customers should quit holding their iPhones like that. Or buy a case, if a £500 purchase wasn’t enough.

But now, Jobs has changed his tune in a recent email saying, in his usual curt fashion “there is no reception issue. Stay Tuned.”

AppleInsider is reporting that a message on the iPhone tech support forums at Apple confirmed a iOS 4.0.1 software fix would address the issues and would ship this week. As early as today, even.

If this is true, that means your iPhone 4 could be revived via a software fix, without having to take it back to the shop.

There definitely won’t be a product recall from Apple. The internet burst into laughter this weekend as tabloid website Daily Mail reported on a Steve Jobs parody Twitter account pondering a recall of the dodgy devices. The report has since been taken offline, but you can see a screencap of the balls up here.
