O2 announces iPhone 4 tariffs, but stops unlimited data usage
|

O2 has announced the tariffs you can expect to be paying for your shiny new iPhone 4, should you be lucky enough to have a contract ending this month. Of course, if you don’t (and are made of money), you could always take up O2’s buy out offer.

The contracts on offer are, unsurprisingly, fairly similar to current 3GS deals. But, significantly, they do specify data limits rather than simply fair usage policies. Interestingly, there is a bedding in promotion which provides unlimited data usage until October 1st 2010.

Whilst 18 and 24 month contracts provide a free handset, there is also the option to pay the full PAYG price, and sign up to a monthly simplicity contract (12 months, or rolling 30 days, it would appear).

Anyone concerned that they might exceed the maximum 1GB limit will be able to add an additional 500MB or 1GB from October. Of course, it doesn’t come for free, and you’ll have to pay £5 or £10 a month for the respective boost.

The table below sets out the monthly costs, and what you get for them. The other companies set to carry the device (T Mobile, 3, Orange and Vodafone) are yet to announce any tariffs, but it would seem that the days of unlimited data are coming to a close.
