Rumour: iOS 4.2 delayed until next week

Wi-fi bug is apparently the culprit

Rumour: iOS 4.2 delayed until next week

It looks like iOS 4.2, which was predicted to hit iPhone and iPad today, might not be with us until next week.

A rumour is buzzing about that suggests a wi-fi bug has cropped up in the latest software update, and will have to be fixed before it's available to to the public. That’s despite Apple launching the Gold Master - industry jargon for finished, final code - to developers.

It’s not like wi-fi problems are a new issue for Apple. Some found the wireless connectivity on Apple’s tablet to be troublesome at launch, but the bugs were fixed in a software update.

iOS 4.2 adds multitasking, folders, and Game Center to iPad, marking the biggest update so far for the 10 inch tablet. Apps are already being updated for the new functionality but, if this rumour holds on, we’ll have to wait a little longer to play with the fresh features.
