PSP and iPad being offered to airlines as in-flight entertainment
Airline food for thought
Last time I went on a trans-Atlantic flight, many a-moon ago, I was surprised to see working SNES consoles built into the back of the seats. Surprised because the SNES was roughly ten years old by that point and looked absolutely archaic when compared to my PS2 back home.
It could be that times are changing, though, as In Flight Entertainment Services has begun pitching custom-built, current-generation PSP consoles to a number of airlines around the world.
These new machines are apparently tailor-made for airlines because they come with an extended battery life from 5.5 to 11 hours while playing games, which should be a bit of a kick in the teeth for normal PSP owners.
This news comes on the back of reports that iPads are also being pitched to airlines by competing company BlueBox, with preloaded books, games, and magic (presumably).
Dont start booking your flights to America/Japan/Eyjafjallajokull yet though, as neither company has revealed if any airlines have bought the system.
