Due to rather overwhelming demand for Apple's new tablet, the Cupertino company has had to make two changes to its schedule, delaying the international release date to late May and, starting this week, pushing new 3G iPad orders in the US to May 7th.

But if you've already preordered the 3G iPad, fear not: Apple is sticking to its late April promise and will deliver 3G devices to costumers on April 30th. The 3G versions of the tablet will also be available in Apple's retail outlets on the same day, from 5pm.

The 3G model allows iPad users to connect to the internet wherever they get a mobile signal, unlike wi-fi, which relies on a router or wi-fi hotspot for connectivity. The models carry a $130 premium over their wi-fi only counterparts.

You'll also lose about an hour's worth of battery life if you choose 3G connectivity over wi-fi, dropping the estimated ten hour run time to nine hours.

The iPad will be available at the end of May in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK. Apple will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders for iPad on May 10th.
