Sister site PocketGamer.biz set its calculators to stun this week as it worked out the average price for an iPad launch game.

Yesterday, the site calculated the average price as $3.52, using 88 games for the calculation.

Today, however, thanks to the likes of blockbuster announcements Mirror's Edge ($14.99), Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies ($14.99) and Civilization Revolution ($12.99), the average price of the new 142 game strong data has risen by 25 percent to $4.41.

A comparison with the iPhone marketplace would be a little time consuming, what with the more than 100,000 apps on the store, but based on the Top 50 iPhone games in America, the average price on the smaller device is a heavily reduced $2.47.

The low price apps on the iPhone have made a lot of developers sweat, and it seems they see the iPad as a clean slate and a fresh marketplace. Whether or not the future iPad App Store economy will mirror the iPhone one is yet to be seen.
