Codemasters: PSP 'bollocking useless', iPad 'brilliant'

iPad + PSP

Speaking in this month's Edge magazine, Codemasters VP Gavin Cheshire has given the blogosphere the gift of a bawdy soundbite by dismissing the PSP as a, “bollocking useless waste of space.”

He goes on to qualify his remark with an illustration. “[O]ur senior VP bought one the day it came out and has a great story, because he ended up on some customer support line just trying to do basic stuff. He had to re-download his software, do an immediate firmware update, and that's your user experience.”

Cheshire is considerably more positive about the iPad, though with reservations - namely, the the sheer weight of crud on the App Store. "[T]here’s just too many," he says. "You’ve got 100,000-odd apps out there – how do you get the exposure?"

"The ecosystem's right, though" he says, "the straight-to-console nature of it."

Amen.
