iTapPirate blends Unreal-powered graphics with fast light gun combat - out in June
Supports 'holographic view' technology for glasses-free 3D
Inter Illusion has dropped us a line to say that its promising-looking tap-shooter (my way of saying 'like a light gun game but on a touchscreen') iTapPirate may have a name that belongs to a bygone era of iPhone gaming, but its graphics certainly don't.
Powered by the Unreal Engine, this 3D shooter plays out from a first-person perspective, with your character running and blasting the parrots out of hundreds of explosive barrels and pirates in triple-'AAr' fashion.
No black spotsAs well as some attractive visuals, the game boasts a mode that adds pseudo-3D to the display (called "Holographic View technology").
From the video of this mode in action, it appears that the gyro is used to calculate the movement of objects in the foreground and background, giving the game a sense of depth that's normally missing from non-3D screens.
You can see both the game and the 3D in action below. iTapPirate is expected to go live at the end of next month.
