Rumour: 7-inch iPad coming this October with $200-$250 price tag
Stevie won't be happy
We've been hearing rumours of a 7-inch iPad ever since Apple's tablet became a smash hit, but we're yet to see the Cupertino-based company officially unveil one. According to website iMore, though, that could change this October.
The website's "sources" have revealed that Tim Cook and co. will release a smaller slate later this year - alongside the new iPhone - complete with a $200 to $250 price tag. This aggressive price point is due to Apple wanting to do to the tablet market what it did to the MP3 market in 2004 with the iPod, i.e. dominate it.
iMore's sources have also indicated that the 7-inch iPad will be identical to its bigger 9.7-inch brother, albeit scaled down. If true, that'd result in the same 2048x1536 resolution display, which would put the gadget's pixel density at around 326 ppi - the same as the iPhone 4S's.
Apple will purportedly keep costs down by shipping this smaller tablet with just 8GB of storage.
