EA is clearly taking the iPad 2 very seriously. Not only has it reduced its entire iPad catalogue by up to 70 per cent for the weekend to capitalise on tablet fever, but it's one of the very first developers to get a iPad 2-specific onto the App Store.

The iPad 2-related differences in Dead Space for iPad appear to be purely cosmetic ones, though a line at the bottom of the update note hints at a deeper issue: “Be sure to DOWNLOAD THE NEW UPDATE and make your game compatible with your new device” (my italics).

Make it compatible? Hopefully this is just an imprecise way of saying 'optimise it for', or at worst related to the iOS 4.3 update, which appears to have stopped some games from working.

The update also delivers look sensitivity and Y-axis inversion, so you can now decide whether up means down or up means up.

Chair Entertainment's Infinity Blade has also been updated to take advantage of the iPad 2's graphical grunt. Chair's technical director Geremy Mustard said in a press release: “The iPad 2 is a huge leap up in processing power from the first iPad … the iPad 2 will allow us to do things people won't believe can be done on a tablet device. Wait until you see what ChAIR does next!”
