iTunes Voucher

It's Christmas, and you've just got a £25 iTunes voucher to splurge on games. It's a great day, but the choice is too much for you.

What games deserve some of that voucher? What's the best way to get rid of the most unimaginative present you received on the big day? (Sorry Gran).

Well fret ye not, because Pocket Gamer is here to help. We've got out our abacus and run some confusing algorithms on our price calculation super computer, and we've come up with the perfect package for just under £25.

The prices of the games are right at the time of writing, but because it's the end of the year, they might fluctuate a little between now and when this story goes live, so apologies if your £25 bundle becomes a £25.50 bundle.

Infinity Blade 3 - £4.99

If you're a new iPad or iPhone owner, it's worth picking up Infinity Blade 3 just to show off what your device can do.

If you're a seasoned gaming veteran that's been put off by the high price, why not chuck some of that voucher in its general direction and see what you've been missing out on.

Threes! - £1.49

The best puzzler that money can buy on the App Store. Sharp, sweet, and painfully, painfully addictive, Threes! Is one of the games of the year.

Sure you might have downloaded 2048 for free already, but that game's a not-particularly-good clone of this one, so why not throw some cash at the dev that came up with the idea.

Brilliant and bloody, with a high level of challenge and some fiendish ideas, Wayward Souls is one of those rare games that should have a place on any iOS device.

A brilliant spacial puzzler about manipulating an ever-changing box of mystery. Dark and beautiful, it's a good way to escape the bright lights of Christmas for an hour or so.

Splice: Tree of Life - £2.49

A strange, ethereal experience that involves dragging enzymes around to create new forms of life. It's single player, but exactly the sort of game that drags people in over your shoulder.

You won't have played anything else quite like Splice, and while it might be a bit of a gamble with real money, it's a shoe-in for voucher spending.

Botanicula - £2.99

Ring Fling - £1.49

Maybe you'd like a game some of the family could play. Ring Fling is a manic reinterpretation of Hungry Hungry Hippos that allows four players to join in.

Fun and frantic, it's a great way to get the family to join in. Unless you all hate each other, in which case it might get a bit violent.

Neon Shadow - 69p

And to finish things off, a bit of classic FPS action. Neon Shadow is swift and violent in the best ways, and features same-device and online multiplayer.

Reminiscent of Quake and Unreal Tournament, this is one of the best shooters on the App Store, and it should round off your voucher spend nicely.

Harry used to be really good at Snake on the Nokia 5110. Apparently though, digital snake wrangling isn't a proper job, so now he writes words about games instead.
