The iOS 9 feature that will save you space for more games has been delayed

Apple has delayed the arrival of the "app thinning" feature of iOS 9. But it has reasons. It's not just messing about.

We detailed what app thinning is and how it benefits you back in June this year. In short, it means developers can make the file sizes of their apps smaller.

That means they won't take up as much room on your phone or tablet. Happy days.

So, why the delay? Apple explained all in a post on its developer pages:

"App slicing is currently unavailable for iOS 9 apps due to an issue affecting iCloud backups created from iOS 9 where some apps from the App Store would only restore to the same model of iOS device."

Now you know. But all you really need to know for now is that, yes, app thinning isn't benefiting you right now. But it'll roll out to the public versions of iOS 9 soon, and then it will.

For now you can dream about what are you going to do with that extra space. What games will you grab?
