Ad-Age: iAds will hit iPad in November, iOS 4 the same month?

Marketing reporter Advertising Age has conducted an in depth look at Apple’s latest project, mobile advertising centre iAd.

It reveals that Apple is handling all technical production of iAds, and is telling agencies that it will take six to eight weeks to produce an advert. Also, advertisers are paying between $1 million and $10 million to get on the platform, depending on exclusivity in certain categories (if you want to have the only car ad, be prepared to shell out).

The rates are exceptionally high, too: $10 per thousand impressions and $2 for every user that clicks through and enters the iAd experience.

But perhaps the most interesting titbit is that Ad-Age has seemingly outed the iPad’s iAd debut. “Apple is telling marketers that the device considered most promising for advertisers -- the iPad -- won't be on the iAd platform until November.”

That means that iOS 4, which promises to bring elements like folders and multitasking to the iPad, will hit at a similar time. November is a bit later than we would have hoped, so let's hope Apple really makes it worth the wait.

iAd will hit the iPhone and iPod touch on July 1st.
