Chaotic Box won our hearts over back in 2010 with the the colourful pandemonium that is the Silver Award-winning Silverfish.

It's been a while since we've heard anything more from the one-man developer, but it's been busy while absent on anew game: dEXTRIS.

It's worth getting excited about for two reasons. Firstly, it seems to be playing to Chaotic Box's strengths. Secondly, it belongs to one of my favourite game genres.

It's a twitchy dodge 'em up drenched in neon pink and blues. You control two cubes as they fly up through a vertical gauntlet.

Large spikes and diamonds clutter the way up, causing you to switch the cubes between scraping the sides and hovering in the middle.

The announcement trailer above shows off the various speeds dEXTRIS can be played at. I thought the first speed would be challenging enough, then it switches to about double that pace.

Looks to be a right challenge - bring it on, I say. dEXTRIS will be slamming its way on to iOS on May 8th, and it will be completely free.

If you're after it, there's more to see on the official dEXTRIS website.
