Retro platformer Zombie King sprints onto iOS, hopefully sometime next month

We love pixelated here at Pocket Gamer so finding out about the auto-running platformer Zombie King by developer Chris (Wizard Golf RPG, Drill Planet, etc.) has made us really excited.

This might sound a little Warm Bodies without the love element but Zombie King says it all in the name. You start off as a deceased royal, having drowned after being exiled from your kingdom, and you're ready to take back your throne – without eating people.

Instead of going on a zombie rampage you've got to restore your humanity by collecting coins throughout the level. By gathering these coins you can then level up your energy a little at a time and start changing from a clattering collection of bones through to a bona fide human being.

That's not all you can buy with your hard-earned cash. With spike-walking boots, armour, double jumps, and more on the table, there're plenty of extra abilities that could help you on your journey.

According to its forum post, Zombie King is completely finished and is just waiting to get the final approvals from Apple. So far the game is coming to iOS, hopefully before Halloween. We'll keep you updated.
