The Warhammer world is full of really awful things.

There are giant spiders, armies of undead skeletons, and rat-men called Skaven. Let's put it this way: you wouldn't want to go there on holiday.

You might, however, go there on a dungeon-crawling adventure. Especially if said dungeon-crawling adventure was designed by Rodeo Games, the developer of the Silver Award-winning Hunters 2.

And that's where Warhammer Quest for iPhone and iPad comes in. It's out right now in New Zealand, you see, which means it'll be surfacing on UK shores at midnight tonight.

The game is a faithful recreation of the classic Games Workshop boardgame, albeit with a few tweaks here and there to make it more suited to portable gaming devices.

To begin with, you'll have four different heroes in your party: the Elf Waywatcher, the Grey Wizard, the Norse Marauder, and the Dwarf Ironbreaker.

This is a game involving tactics, planning, and knowing where each of your heroes should be when the going gets tough. Oh, and spending your hard-earned gold on making sure the members of your party have got the correct equipment.

Rodeo Games promises more than 25 hours of single-player content in Warhammer Quest. Its mixture of RPG and tight turn-based strategy is likely to appeal to fans of both genres.

Plus, you get to whomp trolls. Which is always fun.

Warhammer Quest is a Universal app, and will cost £2.99 / $4.99 when it smashes its way onto the App Store in the UK and US later tonight. In the meantime, why not check out our hands-on preview to see why you should be excited.
