Warhammer 40,000: Chess - Regicide is the latest in the ever-increasing slew of games bearing the Games Workshop brand.

This time round it's chess, but not as we know it. Because there are Space Marines and Orks instead of chess pieces, I guess.

The game is being built by Hammerfall Publishing, and features single player and mutiplayer modes, as well as a Blood Angels-fronted campaign that 'takes chess to a new level.'

Quite what that new level is remains to be seen.

It does seem a bit strange that Games Workshop has a whole back catalogue of its own board games to plunder, and has decided to make a chess game instead.

The game hasn't been confirmed for mobile devices, but we're pretty sure it'll make its way to phones and tablets at some point.

We'll let you know when we get some more information about the game, but in the meantime have a gander at the trailer above.
