Toonuva Games says its upcoming survival game The Wild is like DayZ and Rust for iOS

Toonuva Games has a bold ambition behind its first person iOS survival game, The Wild.

Over on the TouchArcade forums, Toonuva says that it's "on a mission to create a Rust / DayZ style simulation game for iOS."

If you're unfamiliar, both Rust and DayZ are hugely popular survival games currently in their alpha stage and available to buy on PC.

What defines both of them is an open world, a need to gather resources and weapons, and online multiplayer.

The Wild won't have a multiplayer mode, but Toonuva hopes to have the rest of the experience packed into a single player mode.

"You are the sole survivor of a disastrous shipwreck and find yourself at the shores of a hostile and mysterious island," Toonuva revealed.

"Explore, hunt and use whatever means necessary to survive in this brutally intense, first-person open-world game."

Planned is a 100 sq. km of ancient island to roam with varied terrain, hunting and being hunted by indigenous creatures, and gathering food and resources to create tools and shelter in order to survive the harsh natural elements.

All that's been shared of The Wild so far are images showcasing pretty scenes from across the bare island (find them in the top right), and the fact that the player can use a torch when the sun goes down.
