Daedalic's The Pillars of the Earth is bringing 12th century drama to iOS next week

It’s been a long time coming, but Daedalic’s rendition of Ken Follet’s popular historical fiction novel The Pillars of the Earth is finally coming to iOS. The point and click adventure arrived on PC and console last year to positive reviews—no small feat when attempting to condense an immense novel into bite sized episodes.

The story is being split into three different “books”, with the first launching on iOS next week. The first book, From the Ashes, contains seven chapters. Books two and three are expected to arrive at a later date.

The Pillars of the Earth

The Pillars of the Earth tells the story of the medieval village of Kingsbridge. It has all of the trappings of a gritty, historic drama (think Game of Thrones without the white walkers or dragons) complete with politics, romance, and a fascinating attention to medieval gothic architecture. Daedalic’s rendering of the universe features hand painted scenery and fully animated characters.

The Pillars of the Earth - From the Ashes is out on April 4 on iOS. You’ll be able to grab it for $4.99.
