You might be getting sick of roguelikes at this point. Every other game these days seems to have random levels, permadeath, and enemies that wait patiently to attack.

But don't discount The Nightmare Cooperative, from Bad Hotel and Gentlemen! developer Lucky Frame, just yet. By smartly mixing up the formula, this dungeon crawler manages to feel rather fresh.

The idea is that all of your team mates all move simultaneously unless they're squished up against a wall - like tiles in Threes!, actually - so you need to think how everyone will act before you swipe.

This adds a devious puzzley twist to proceedings that makes every enemy encounter feel dangerous and treacherous.

Meanwhile, you're trying to rinse the gold from every level of the dungeon as you go, while avoiding traps and enemies, and drinking down potions so your various characters can unleash their unique abilities.

We'll have a full review soon. But if you can wait that long, know that The Nightmare Cooperative will hit the iOS App Store at midnight tonight where it will cost £1.99 / $2.99 and contain no in-app purchases. An Android version is planned.
