It's that time of year again, where the weather gets ever so slightly warmer and we eat so much chocolate that we make ourselves sick.

Why not avoid that outcome this year by checking out the generous Easter updates in your favourite mobile games, instead.

After all, we've done the hard work by including a nice little list below.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out (iPhone, iPad, Android)

Easter has come to Springfield in the form of an egg-laying bunny invasion.

Grab yourself a bunny stunner and tap those bloodthirsty rabbits to make them drop eggs, which can be collected and traded in return for Easter Boxes containing seasonal prizes.

Also included in this update are new characters Crazy Cat Lady and Father Sean, and two new buildings: the Banana Dictatorship and Johnny Fiestas.

Temple Run 2 (iPhone, iPad, Android)

Temple Run 2 seems intent on covering every major holiday. No surprise, then, to discover a new Easter update featuring - you guessed it: another hat.

Collecting five new Easter artifacts unlocks you a set of bunny ears, wearable on all of your characters.

Also included is the aptly named (or completely offensive, depending on who you ask) 'Wheel of Resurrection'. It's a spin the wheel type mini-game playable every time you use a 'Save Me!'.

Cloud syncing has finally been added, recording your stats and upgrades across all of your devices.

The Collectables (iPhone, iPad)

The 'Easter Egg Mayhem' event has been going on for a little while now and ends on April 22nd so you're best off checking this one out sooner rather than later.

The event is a collection of new missions that reward you with Easter eggs upon completion. These eggs can be used to unlock Easter-themed reward cards, obtainable only during this event.

Transport Tycoon (iPhone, iPad)

Transport Tycoon gets a major Easter update, featuring five new scenarios, remastered music by original composer John Broomhall, and some brand new achievements.

Also included are loading screen tips and a whole host of fixes throughout, both of which should improve your experience.

Terraria (iPhone, iPad)

The iOS version of Terraria has been updated with corrupt bunnies which you must defeat in order to summon the Easter Bunny boss.

Beating this gargantuan bunny is totally worth it, as all the crazed bunnies will return to normal and you will be rewarded with a special weapon or item.

Junk Jack X (iPhone, iPad)

Pixbits has been very generous with its Easter offering. A new chemistry system is the highlight, with a new craftable Chemistry Lab block giving you the opportunity to create around 100 different potion effects.

Tameable pets have also been introduced into the game. Spread around the planets are dog, cat, bird, and rabbit breeds which can be collected and bred.

Really, that's just the tip of the iceberg in terms of content with tons of new toys, crafts, and plantable items as well as bug fixes.

Angry Birds Friends (iPhone, iPad, Android)

The Easter Tournament has arrived in Angry Birds Friends. All pigs are now dressed up as the Easter bunny and are trying to gather all of the eggs and it's up to you to stop them.

Also included are six new seasonal-themed levels. The tournament started on April 14th and will last for a week, ending on the 21st April.
