Grim and gory roguelike The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth might be bound for iPad later this year

If you like your iPad roguelikes creepy and upsetting in the very best sense of the words, then we've got a sliver of good news for you. Yep, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth might be wriggling its way to the App Store.

In a recent post on his website, developer Edmund McMillen - who's working on the grisly redux with Nicalis - revealed that if the game works on an iPad, then it'll get released on the App Store.

"We miiiiight also test the game out on iPad and see how it works, if it works ok then we will also release there."

That's quite a big 'might' (literally!), but it does at least leave the door open to an iOS version of the grim and gory remake.

Here's a trailer for The Binding of Isaac to give you an idea of the tone of the game. Suffice it to say, it's not for the faint of heart.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a complete overhaul of the original Flash game. So, you can expect extra bits, more bobs, a new art style, and more than double the content of the original.

It's already been confirmed for the PS Vita, so there's definitely a portable version on the way. We'll keep you posted, however, if we find out anything more about the iPad version.
