Ten is a game that takes the classic Noughts and Crosses (Tic-Tac-Toe for those of you in the US) formula and spices it up with an extra layer of forward planning.

Imagine a 3x3 grid, as you always play Noughts and Crosses upon. Now, instead of simply placing your coloured circle into one of the nine squares, in Ten you have to win the right to each square.

TenYou do this by playing a smaller game of Noughts and Crosses inside of the squares or the large grid. As always, you just have to match three of your coloured circles in a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal line to win.

But here's the extra catch. Wherever you place your circle inside the small grid, your opponent has to then play in that corresponding square on the larger grid.

It makes sense when you play it, I promise. As you're playing ten games at once, you have to always consider how your placement in the smaller games will affect the larger game.

I've played Ten with a pen and paper before now, but it's much more convenient on your mobile or tablet. Plus, it has single player, two player on the same device, and online multiplayer, too.

Ten is free download on the App Store [download], so save yourself drawing ten grids on paper and grab the game already.
