A well-worn path

iPad and Android version of classic Games Workshop boardgame Talisman to debut on April 25th

The digital version of Games Workshop's Talisman fantasy role-playing game is due to surface on iPad and Android this Thursday.

Developed for modern tablets by Nomad Games, Talisman: Prologue represents the first chapter in what is set to be an ongoing series of updates based on the 30-year-old boardgame.

For this debut mobile chapter, the folks behind Talisman: Prologue have chosen to focus on the single-player experience.

This means you'll have access to ten characters, whom you will be guiding through a series of randomised enemy encounters with the aim of reaching the centre of the board and claiming the Crown of Command.

Anyone familiar with the original Talisman physical boardgame will remember that victory relied on two primary factors: time and luck.

For the iOS and Android versions, Nomad Games will recreate these random events by making you draw fate-affecting cards whenever you land on a square.

Though Talisman's multiplayer component will be absent from the launch-day version of Talisman: Prologue, the dev team intends to add a multiplayer element to the game later in the year via a paid update.

Don't worry about feeling short-changed, though, as the single-player campaign contains a whopping 50 quests. To find out more about these quests, you'll have to take a peek at our preview of the game, which should be up on the site this evening.

You will be able to download Talisman: Prologue on iPad and Android tablets for £2.99 / $4.99 this Thursday.
