If you've a penchant for adventure gaming on the go, you really should buy an iOS device. There are so many point-and-click classics on the App Store that you'll be spoilt for choice.

Well, you can now add Microid's Syberia to that ever-growing list.

For those not in the know, Microids's 2002 PC smash revolves around mammoths, clockwork trains, and an automaton called Oscar.

In this episodic game - which Microids has split into three parts for iOS - you follow the story of Kate Walker, a young American lawyer who's plunged into a world of mysterious inventors and long-lost heirs.

Microids has re-engineered Syberia for touchscreen devices, with the French studio crafting a new control system that highlights points of interest so you can move over to them quickly.

Syberia also features a full voice cast, in case you were wondering.

Some people might be a little upset, mind, to discover that it's not a Universal app - a separate HD version is available for iPad point-and-click fans.

You can grab the first chunk of this first episode for free for iPhone [download] or iPad [download] from the App Store now.

If you like what you play, you can grab the rest of the first episode on iPhone via a £1.49 / $1.99. If you like what you play of the HD version, you can grab the rest of the first episode via a £2.99 / $4.99 IAP.
