Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP walkthrough Session III

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Logfella will find your body - bruised, battered and a heart piece down - in the sheep meadow.

Walk south a few steps and you'll see the golden Trigon symbol on the iron gate glow. Go into Sworcery mode and hold you finger on the symbol to open the gate. Head on through.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

You'll find yourself in this area, which we'll call the Trigon Grove. Because that's what it's called. Head over to the triangle that's spilling out triangles, and hit it with your sword.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

The grave in the grove will start to spill triangles. Head up and interact with it to chat to the ghostly figure. He'll tell you that the two other Trigons exist in dreams - which is a seriously huge hint.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

The other two Trigons - the Dark Moon Trigon and the Bright Moon Trigon are hidden in side B (the dream world that's accessible from Logfella's hut), but they're only accessible during a Dark (i.e. new) or Bright (i.e. full) Moon.

There are three ways to change the lunar shape. The moon will go through its different phases throughout the days and weeks, naturally. The Megatome book will tell you when the next dark moon is so you can shut off the app, do something else with your life, and load it up in a couple of days to see the dark moon. It's long and arduous, but this is what the developers intended

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

If you feel like cheating you can pop into your iPad Settings and change the date manually to skip forward through time. The creators aren't stupid: they'll know if you've been fiddling with the date and will chastise you by only giving up a 99 per cent completion rating at the end. If you can cope with the guilt, do this.

If you want to jump forward, but don't want to cheat, you can enter a secret room that lets you manually alter the moon. It's a time paradox, and the moon will go back if you wait too long or exit the app, but it's a handy way to keep playing without cheating. We'll explain how to unlock this room now.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Head east, enter Logfella's hut, and sit down to enter the dream world. Now head south two screens and east for two screens to reach the water.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

As you reach the water, the word "Believe" will appear. Tap and hold on the water to make your hero walk on it (hey, it's a dream. Physics be damned). You'll walk over to another island, where the nude boar will spot you and dart off

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Follow him, and you'll reach a giant tree. Enter the crack at the base.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Inside, walk up to the boar to do battle. It's a pretty easy one, and almost exactly like the shadowy soldier in the shadowy Mingi Taw guardian.

He'll telegraph how many attacks he'll do by bashing his shield, so defend through those. When he's done, slash at him. He'll take five hits before going down.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

At the end of the battle, you get a choice of whether or not to slay the creature. I didn't. You can, but bear in mind that you'll be a massive, heartless monster. You big bastard. Either way, you'll automatically grab a key. Exit the tree and go east.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Sit down in the dream Logfella's hut to wake up in the real Logfella's hut. Confused yet?

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Head east for a few screens - past the gate and past the waterfall - until you come across this nest. You'll just be about to make out a doorway in the greenery below - double-tap it to open it with your newly acquired key.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Inside you'll find a starry room with a seat and the moon. Sit down on the seat and the moon will crank through its phases.Hop up when the moon hits the Dark Moon (we'll tackle this one first), and exit.

Congrats, you've just fiddled with the law of the cosmos, and entered a lunar paradox, for your personal gain. I hope you're happy. Quickly head back to Logfella's hut and sit down to enter the Dark Moon-version of the dream world.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

If the dream world is draped in darkness, then you'll know you're in the right place. There's a sprite circle here - enter Sworcery mode to get things started. Tap the bushes in the order above to release the spirit. Tap it three times to wake it up. Head south.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Enter Sworcery mode. Pluck the waterfalls like guitar strings in the order above. Tap the spirit three times to wake it up. Head south, down the path of the left.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Enter Sworcery mode (sensing a pattern here?). Tap the four trees in the order above. Tap that spirit with all your might to wake it from its eternal slumber. That's three down! Head east for a few screens and cross the river.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Sworcery mode, ahoy! Tap the bushes in the order above, tap the sprite. You get it. Head east.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Hey, guess what time it is? That's right, it's Sworcery time! Pluck the waterfalls like guitar strings in the above order. Tap the sprite to wake it. That's all the sprites in the Dark Moon dream - hooray! Head north to the giant tree.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Stand in front of the tree and enter Sworcery mode. Shake your iPad and a thunderbolt will appear, cutting the tree into bits. Grab the two glowing squares with your fingers and pull them apart to separate the tree. A Trigon will appear. Eek! Tap it to begin the battle.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Like the first Trigon, this battle has a number of different phases, each with different attack and defence patterns.

Phase 1 is like tennis: the Trigon will fire a beam of light at you, and you have to hit with your sword when it's close enough. Do it successfully enough times and the beam will turn red, and come at you much faster. Keep hitting it to enter phase 2.

In Phase 2, the Trigon will slowly make a wall of rainbow-coloured light beams and send them at you. Quickly slash your way through them before they reach and hurt you.

Phase 3 turns the Trigon into a large number of different triangles. Sometimes you'll be zapped and you have to touch the shield to evade, sometimes the triangles will fly at you and you have to destroy them with your sword.

Finally, the Trigon will charge up and let out one last zap. Evade it and you'll win the battle. Pick up the Dark Trigon, and give yourself a little round of applause.

Right, onto Bright Moon. Head back to Logfella's hut, sit down, and wake up in the real world.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Head to the Trigon Grove (to the far west, behind the sheep field if you forgot). The Dark Moon stand is now spilling triangles. Hit it with your sword to activate the beam of light. Two down, one to go. Having fun? We are.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Right. On to the Bright Moon Trigon. Change the moon (either by waiting, cheating, or entering the lunar grotto - see above for more details), and head back into the dream space.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

The dream world should be bright and airy, with a full moon hanging in the sky. Head south, and then south again down the left pathway. Head west, past the deer.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

You'll enter an area with Sword & Sworcery's composer Jim Guthrie. And he's chilling out next to a sprite circle. Enter Sworcery mode, and hit the glowing dots in the order above. Tap the sprite three times to wake it.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Head east, to the duck pond. Enter Sworcery mode. Tap a duck, and then tap the glowing circle so the duck enters it. Do this with all ducks to wake the sprite, and then tap it three times. Head east.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

This Sworcery stage is like spot-the-difference, as you tap objects that don't appear in the water's reflection. We've circled them in the image above. Head east.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

In the area, tap the tree owls in the order above to unleash the sprite. Now head east, over the water, and follow Dogfella.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Enter Sworcery mode, and tap the trees in the order above. You'll need to pan the camera - by holding your finger on the hero and moving left or right, to see all the trees. Once you're done, head back down the path towards the water.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

As you cross over the river, you'll notice a new island has emerged. Enter Sworcery mode, and tap the moon that's above the water. Click the reflection of the moon and they'll swap places. Now hold your fingers on the two moons, and drag apart to open a cave entrance. Go inside, you big sissy.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

The Bright Moon Trigon is inside. Tap it, and take out your sword and shield. It's fighting time!

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Like the Dark Moon Trigon, this battle has a number of different phases, each with different attack and defence patterns.

Phase 1 is like tennis: the Trigon will fire a beam of light at you, and you have to hit with your sword when it's close enough. Do it successfully enough times and the beam will turn red, and come at you much faster. Keep hitting it to enter phase 2.

In Phase 2, the Trigon will turn into two smaller triangles, and disappear above the battle. They will then suddenly fly down, prompting you to evade by tapping the shield. Do this twice to survive.

Phase 3 turns the Trigon into a lattice of different triangles. Sometimes you'll be zapped and you have to touch the shield to evade, sometimes the triangles will fly at you and you have to destroy them with your sword.

Finally, the Trigon will charge up and let out one last zap. Evade it and you'll win the battle. Pick up the Bright Moon Trigon, and pat yourself on the back, you awesome person.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

You'll wake up next to the lake. Walk north and east and follow the boar to the field. He'll open the previously-locked door for you. Enter, why don't you?

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

You're now in Jim Guthrie's rock show. Walk about, mingle, talk to people and then walk into the glowing circle in the middle of the clearing. Bam - the epically long Session III is well and truly over. One more to go!
