iPad pixel-art adventure Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP 'approved by Apple'

Journalists came away from last year's GDC, more than a year ago, raving about a mercurial pixel-art game called Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, created in Toronto by designer Superbrothers and developer Capybara. Superbrothers claimed it would be available in the second half of 2010.

In September Pocket Gamer learned that the game would be out, "in a month or so", but the promised launch never materialised, leaving us to wait instead for an "early 2010" release. Superbrothers later specified the vernal equinox: March 21st.

Well, tomorrow is the vernal equinox, and it looks like Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is finally here. Speaking on Twitter to @willgillam, Superbrothers announced the launch earlier today: “No, don't wait up! Here's the announcement, right now: S:S&S EP has been approved by Apple & it's set for release this week!”

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is a side-scrolling pixel-art adventure featuring a large world to explore and Punch-Out-style fighting sequences. We'll let you know how well that combination fares in our full review this week.

In the meantime, get yourself ready with this audience calibration trailer.
