Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP walkthrough

Session II

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

You'll be teleported onto a platform to the east of Logfella's hut. Head west and enter the woodcutter's little house.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Talk to Girl. She'll let you know that there are three groups of spirits hanging around the nearby area and you should, like, go find them and stuff. There's one in the deepwater pond outside the hut, one in the sheep meadow, and one in the nestbox.

We'll tackle the pond first. Head outside.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Talk to The Archetype. He'll teach you how to perform Sworcery, which has you holding your finger on the hero until a bubble envelops her. Now tap one of the fish in the pond to mark a bubble around it, and use your finger to drag it into the bubbly circle on the water. Do the same with the other fish.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

A Sylvan Sprite will appear. Tap it three times and it'll fire a beam of light into the air. Congrats - you've done your first Sprite capture. You'll need to do this a number of times throughout the adventure, so I hope you found it palatable.

Head west.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

In the meadow, you'll notice that bubbly circle of light again. You know what to do: head into Sworcery mode and get tapping.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

On this screen, you'll need to tap all the sheep in a specific order. If you can't figure it out, follow the numbers in the screenshot above. A sprite will appear - tap it three times to awaken the slumbering spirit. Head east two screens.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

You'll come across a nestbox with a bubbly circle on top. Enter Sworcery mode and tap the birds (in the order of red, yellow, and then blue) to activate the sprite. Tap it three times to proceed. Head west and enter the log cabin.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Talk to Logfella. He'll tell you that he lost his key to the door somewhere in the unconscious dream-space of his own sleeping mind. Sit down on the empty chair to follow him into his sleepy brain scape, Inception style. Tap the glowing LP to turn into Side B, the dream side.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

You are now in the world of dreams. Head south a few screens, ignoring the naked monster thing, and then zoom east. Make sure you pick up mushrooms - these hallucinogenic shrooms will recharge your health and help solve puzzles.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

At the water's edge, you'll find the key on the ground. Tap it to pick it up. A throne will appear - tap it to sit down, fall asleep and awake in the real world (Side A).

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Head out of the hut and go east towards the locked door in the mountain pass. Have a chat with Girl if you fancy, or unlock the door and head up the path.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

You'll enter another battle with the wolf. You know the drill now - wait for it to announce its attack and then slash it with your sword as it lunges forward. To slices will finish it off, for now. Continue east.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

A sprite-circle appears on the ground. Stand on the bridge and enter Sworcery mode. In this area you'll want to tap the trees in the order shown in the image above.

You'll need to move the screen around to see all the trees, so hold your finger on the hero and pan left or right to see more of the area. A sprite will appear - tap it twice. Now head up the mountain, and then east.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

You'll appear in the grove with the head-shaped rock and a sprite-circle on the ground. Enter Sworcery mode and look at the two rainbows.

Rub them with your pinky until they explode into colour, revealing a double rainbow all the way across the sky. A Sylvan Sprite will appear, which you can tap three times to awaken.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Head all the way back to Logfella's hut and talk to Girl. She'll tell you to go to the sheep field to the west. There you'll find five sprites who whizz up into the sky. Go into Sworcery mode and tap the moon in the sky.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

Tap and hold the two glowing eyes, and drag your fingers together to make the cliffs meet. This will make a triangle appear. Walk up to it and turn your iPad to initiate the first Trigon battle.

Sword-Sworcery-EP-Guide

This battle has a number of different phases, each with different attack and defence patterns.

Phase 1 is like tennis: the Trigon will fire a beam of light at you, and you have to hit with your sword when it's close enough. Do it successfully enough times and the beam will turn red, and come at you much faster. Keep hitting it to enter phase 2.

Phase 2 is a series of powerful zaps. Each time, the Trigon will make a quick charging up noise and your shield will glow. Tap it quickly to dodge.

Phase 3 turns the Trigon in a large number of different triangles. Sometimes you'll be zapped and you have to touch the shield to evade, sometimes the triangles will fly at you and you have to destroy them with your sword.

Finally, the Trigon will charge up and let out one last zap. Evade it and you'll win the battle. Pick up the Trigon to complete Session II. "We got the Gold Trigon. We are so awesome," the game will say.

Indeed, we are awesome.

What can I do when I've finished the mushrooms and still haven'beaten the GT? I can't front him with one star/hit point, but also can't get the other mushroom near the triangle, neither going back to east

Hey willbeller. Your shield will tell you when to press it. When the monster jumps at you the shield will have lines around it. That's when you press it to jump out of the way.

As for the whole "dodge" tactic, what worked for me was tapping on the sword WHILE I had my shield raised. It will only engage when the attack is incoming. In general, if you pay close attention to the animations and/or sound changes that occur during any fight, you will know when to use "dodge". When I know one is coming, I quite literally just hold up my shield with my left thumb, and then spam the sword button until it engages, and I dodge the attack.

I agree that the "advice" given by the archetype is misleading and/or confusing.

@WillBeller, I am having the same frustration as you, no glowing shield as a hint on when to "dodge" in phase 2 of trigon fight, keeps wasting my ass.

Curiously, when I first fought trigon, without clues about how to, my Scythian was dodging and moving, but I was not sure how I had controlled it to do such... Now I can't move it at all and trigon kicks my ass.

When you write "dodge" and "evade" as the solution to the trigon's attacks, do you really mean deflect? My guy doesn't move around at all. All she does in fight mode is swing the sword and raise thE shield. I see no reason or difference in method that explains why some beams are deflected by my shield and some rock me eventually (and frustratingly repetitively) to my demise. Please advise me or I shall have to quit for good.

No matter what I try (even maxing my health with shrooms) and no matter how early or late I raise my shield, Phase 2 of the first trigon always kills me. My shield does NOT light up either as a timing guide. What am I missing? I enjoyed this game until here but am sick of being stuck!

Major problems - no matter how I use my shield in part 2 of the Trigon battle, I get killed. Over 50 time I have been through this trying all possible ways. I've eaten a shroom and fought during the pink bubble time following shroom ingestion. I have held the shield button the whole time and tapped the sword to activate the little block maneuver it causes with the shield.I have sang the song of Sworcery before -towards the Trigon and on that rock pile away from it.
Speaking if shrooms -why can't we get that shroom right in front of the Trigon?
Please tell me - what am I not doing right? This game was awesome and fun to figure out - until this part.
I have restarted the game 3x to make sure I have done all the preliminaries.
I am stuck at 34% with the Trigon. At one of my restarts, I was up to 42% and had not yet encountered the Trigon - but this was before they changed the beginning and there was no requirement to fight the Devil Cow in the forest.
Please help. Please.
