Wizcorp has announced that its tactical-action football game Striker Arena will be out for iOS on February 24th.

And do note that it's "iOS" and not just "iPad" any more. Yep, Wizcorp decided to meet the demand and develop Striker Arena for iPhone as well.

There's more good news, too. Striker Arena will no longer be a free to play game. Instead, it will be sold as a premium title at £2.29 / $2.99 when it comes out next Tuesday.

Wizcorp says the reason for this is that the structure of the game was not made to fit a freemium model - that is, intrusive ads and visual social features.

The studio says that it now feels a lot more comfortable delivering a full premium version to all players rather than an experience truncated by IAPs.

Striker Arena has you playing as either Vikings or Gladiators in arena-based football matches. You tap and swipe to kick the ball around as you'd expect.

The major exception to the rules is that there's no concept of fouling in Striker Arena. So you can maul your opponents as you wish to get the ball.

You'll want to get a little rough with them too. As if you lose then the Emperor decides if your team lives or dies. You don't want that fate, do you?

Last thing to note is that Striker Arena can be played as a single player game or, if you have a friend nearby, you can play 1v1 on a single device.
