Story Warriors: Fairy Tales is almost like a kids version of DEVICE 6, out on iOS this week

Thumbstar is launching its next game on iOS this week. It's called Story Warriors: Fairy Tales and it's almost like a kids version of DEVICE 6.

I'm not making that comparison due to it being a well-written mysterious adventure inside a gloomy castle. On the contrary, it adapts well-known fairy tales to its format.

The similarity between the two games is in how you navigate their worlds by reading text. In DEVICE 6, the text was turned into corridors and rooms. Whereas in Story Warriors the text is structured as platforms with a pop-up book feel to it.

The idea is that you slide a young girl called Bella across these platforms while reading the words on them. It mimics the way you might read a page and use your finger as a guide so you don't lose your place.

However, some of the words will prevent you from sliding the girl to the end. It might be the word "fire," which will create a wall of fire in front of the girl.

What you'd then have to do, in this example, is to go back to the word "bucket" and pull the girl down towards it to have her reach in and bring out a bucket.

Then you'd slide her over to the word "water" and repeat the action so that she fills the bucket with water. Then, when slid back in front of the fire, she'll throw water over it, opening up the way.

All the puzzles in Story Warriors are similar to this but the variety in the objects that you have to use keeps it entertaining. And at the end of each story book world you have to take on the boss in the same way.

We'll let you know when Story Warriors: Fairy Tales is out. Until then, check out its website for more info.
