We liked what we played of Shane McCafferty's iOS shmup Starseed earlier this year. So we're happy to hear that it'll be out on September 17th [Update: previously this article stated it would be out on the 13th but that is wrong].

This release date was announced in the game's latest trailer, as you can watch above. Oh, and it turns out that the game is now being published by Crescent Moon.

Starseed is somewhat of a spiritual successor to the Commodore 64 shmup Uridium.

As such, each level has you destroying a massive spinning dreadnought while also dealing with a fleet of smaller ships trying to defend it.

First, you have to take the shields down, then you blast all the docked ships on board. As it blows up, to complete the level you have to dodge all the debris it leaves behind.

You can check out our hands-on preview of Starseed to see it in action.
