LucasArts soft-launches Clash of Clans clone Star Wars: Commander on iOS in Australia

There's no shortage of Clash of Clans clones on iOS or Android.

But there hasn't been an officially licensed Star Wars-based Clash of Clans clone before.

There is now, however, as LucasArts and Disney have teamed up to soft-launch Star Wars: Commander in Australia for iOS.

As you'd expect, this is a free-to-play strategy game that places you in the middle of the Galactic Civil War in the Star Wars universe. You can side with either the Rebellion or the Empire.

You'll build your bases to train troops and fortify them with shields, turrets, and artillery. With your defences up, you'll then want to launch an attack against the opposing faction.

You're able to call on iconic units like AT-ATs and Tie Fighters as the Empire, or Han Solo and Princess Leia on the Rebellion side.

As you emerge victorious, you'll travel across familiar locations seen in the Star Wars movies completing special missions.

If you have an Australian App Store account then you can download Star Wars: Commander [download] right now.

Everyone else will have to wait for it to be released globally this summer on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
