Activision has abolished the asking price of Skylanders Battlegrounds on iOS. Yep, you can grab it for free right now.
This is more than likely a limited-time promotion for the game. So if you haven't picked up Battlegrounds yet then now would be the best time to do so.
The normal price is £4.99 / $6.99, you see. So by picking it up for free right now you're making a decent saving.
Battlegrounds is a combination of turn-based exploration and real-time combat.
You move your Skylanders across a hex-based grid. Each tile will either lands you a treasure chest containing gems, or a battle.
The battles zoom you into an elemental arena where you fight waves of enemies. You just draw lines between your Skylanders and the enemies - it's simple enough.
The rest of the game is all about earning gems to unlock new Skylanders, powers, and items.
You can do it the hard way or you can put the money you saved towards buying gems through IAPs. It'll also help if you already own some Skylanders figures that you can scan into the game.
