Activision has just released another iPad title set in its increasingly popular Skylander universe. It's called Skylanders: Lost Islands, and it's a freemium build-'em-up that tasks you with restoring the lands of the Mabu to their former glory.

Your aim is to construct and customise a colourful village in order to attract no fewer than 35 Skylanders. Once the little minions are in your possession, they can be levelled-up and sent off on wild adventures.

As Spyro, Boomer, Prism Break, and the rest of your battlers complete tasks and goals, you'll unlock rewards and gain access to new items and equipment that you can use to further customise your fantasy homeland.

Just like in the Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning Skylanders: Cloud Patrol, you can unlock new Skylanders by completing in-game tasks or entering the special code that comes with every physical Skylander toy.

Excited? So are we. Unfortunately, Skylanders: Lost Islands is currently in a beta period and is only available in Canada for the time being.

We've contacted Activision about a UK and US release date, so we'll hopefully be able to fill you in on that front very soon.
