Nitrome's new game Silly Sausage in Meat Land is a curious mix of a platformer and Nokia feature phone classic, Snake.

You play as a sausage dog with an infinitely long tummy, and can bend his belly in four directions with a swipe of the screen. The idea is to grab gems, watch out for spikes, and not leave your elongated torso exposed to danger.

Unlike Snake, you can touch your own body without dying. You can retract back to normal dog-sized shape by gripping the wall. And you can retract back on yourself. So it's not really like Snake at all.

This isn't an endless game, or a level based game. You've got one gigantic obstacle course to get through, with 50 checkpoints littered from start to finish. You can unlock those checkpoints with gems you pick up, or by watching ads.

More obstacles and puzzle elements are added as you go along - including Mario-like green pipes and walls you can't stick to. The difficulty ramps up pretty quickly, so you're gonna need those checkpoints.

Silly Sausage in Meat Land is out tomorrow, on Wednesday the 25th March, on iOS, Google Play and the Amazon App Store. It's a free to play game (also with ads - but with an IAP to turn them off).
