New Shadowrun Returns trailer asks if you'll go Mage, Decker, or Street Samurai

Shadowrun Returns is a game you might have heard of.

Perhaps you were one of the thousands who helped fund its Kickstarter in 28 hours, or maybe you were one of the many who gnashed their teeth in frustration when it was delayed for fine tuning.

Or maybe you've not heard of the top-down, cyberpunk tactics game at all.

No matter what your exposure to Shadowrun Returns might be, the new launch trailer gives you a good idea of what you can expect from its combat system.

Man meets machine

Your job in Shadowrun Returns is to lead a squad of Shadowrunners (mercenaries) to through the "urban sprawl of the Seattle metroplex" in the quest to track down a killer.

How you approach the problem is largely tied into how you build your team - if you enlist a lot of fantasy elements (mages, shamans, etc.) you'll have some trouble with cyber security, and if you roll with a squad of hackers you might have some problems if you need to negotiate with orcs.

Balancing your squad's important, as you'll see below, but so is understanding how to use them as an efficient unit.

Shadowrun Returns doesn't have a firm iOS or Android release date yet, although Joystiq reports it will be available on Steam for PC and Mac on July 25. We've reached out to Harebrained Schemes to confirm the release dates for the mobile versions and will update this story when we hear back
