Look behind you - Monkey Island 1 and 2 have disappeared from the App Store

Two of the best adventure games on iOS - The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge - are no longer available on the App Store.

The two classic point and click comedies, which follow the exploits of wannabe pirate Guybrush Threepwood, were pulled from the iOS shopfront at the beginning of April.

These weren't just ports of some old Amiga games, either. They were special edition remakes with (optional) redrawn art, voice acting, and even developer commentary.

The games were made by LucasArts, which was snaffled up by Disney when the house of mouse bought Lucasfilm in 2012. Disney then cancelled all games and canned most of LucasArts's staff in 2013.

But, despite this, those old Monkey Island games are still available on Xbox Live Arcade and Steam.

We've reached out to Disney to ask why the games were removed from the App Store and - more pertinently - if they're ever coming back
