There's a sneaky new way to play old SNES games on your iPad in lovely, full-screen HD.

Dubbed as SNES HD, the app takes downloadable ROMs and plays them on your touch-screen.

Even cooler, an iPhone or iPod touch can be linked up and used as a controller.

Developer Yusef Napora took the ZodTTD SNES emulator and tweaked it to work on iPad. There are no framerate issues, although there is a slight delay between pressing buttons on the iPhone and the action appearing on screen.

Hopefully that will be resolved for the full release, which is apparently coming soon.

The app will be available through Cydia, the unofficial app for jailbroken iPhones and iPads.

For all the details on how to set up the ROMs to work with your iPad, check out Techtosh's guide.

The video below shows the app in action.
